GrupoNueva and the companies it controls follow the triple bottom line business strategy. We understand success in business to be the simultaneous achievement of positive results in the economic, social and environmental spheres. According to our founder Stephan Schmidheiny, “our strategy is the best for sustainable value creation”.
Our results demonstrate this. The group’s value increased by 20% between 2005 and 2006, and has increased by a further 20% in the period between December 2006 and May 2007.
We also underwent some significant changes in 2006 and in the first quarter of 2007 with highly positive results for our companies.
Masisa
• 2006 was a year of growth and consolidation for Masisa, achieving a sustained increase in sales that totaled US$887 million, representing an increase of 19% over 2005.
• Masisa defined the wood board business for furniture and interior design as its core business. The solid wood, forestry and retail businesses re-focused their strategies and future investments so as to optimize the board business, increasing competitivity.
Amanco
•In March 2007 we sold Amanco to the Mexichem company. The solidity achieved by Amanco allowed us to carry out a highly successful financial operation. The year 2006 presented Amanco with some important challenges. The company was able to face an intense effort to open up its capital while sustaining the growth trend in its results: sales increased by around 16% while the company’s EBITDA was maintained at around US$84 million.
Amanco demonstrates for GrupoNueva that the successful implementation of the triple bottom line creates sustainable value; and how it contributes to leadership in social and environmental responsibility – that have now become company assets – and the profitability and value of the business. GrupoNueva, together with Amanco and its employees, is proud of this considerable achievement.
The Plycem Company
• In December 2007 Mexalit purchased The Plycem Company from GrupoNueva.
